Anybody else watching the new Blade series? Its pretty good. Its gory, for television. It seems like its more about the girl than Blade, though.

I think the character of Blade is probably the weakest character on the show. Given that he's the title character, I think it's sad.
The best storyline is Krista and the vampires. Until the actor playing Blade improves, I want to see more of the Vamps, and less of Blade.

So, do you fault the writers, for neglecting Blade, or do you think its the actor's performance that is lacking? Kirk "Sticky" Jones is also known as Sticky Fingaz, from the hip-hop group, Onyx. Remember their single, "Slam" from years back, about moshing? I guess they were trying to crossover into the alternative/punk audience. He is more of a rapper than an actor, maybe. But he certainly has a good voice for Blade.

I think its the fault of the character actually. Blade wages a solitary war, and doesn't really interact with people. The writers have to change the foundation of the character to make it work in a series, because the lead has to interact with other characters.
I also get the impression the writers dig the vamps, since so much of their story is happening with those characters. They need to give Blade a story arc of his own. Finding him another human character or two to interact with would defintely help.
As to 'Sticky'... I haven't seen him in anything else, but I get the feeling he's trying to play the character as distant and disconnected from humanity, and it really hurts the likability of the character.
There is one thing I would criticize about his portrayal, and it's the fact that he has no moves for the fight scenes. The man needs to get some training

I've been really surprised by this show. Things keep happening that I would never expect. First, that dirty cop is turned into a vampire, and gets away. Then Fritz is killed. Then the blond vampire is blown up and almost killed. (I thought she must have been dead until I saw the scenes from the next week). Then the thug from Blade's past is killed. (I like that actor, and I'm sad to see him leave so soon). Finally, Krista turns her own dying mother! That really surprised me. I like this show. I like the unexpected. The stories must be taken from the comic book, I think thats why it is so unlike most tv.

d**n, I'm disappointed Blade the Series has been canceled. Surprised too. I was looking forward to next season and to seeing how things turned out. We're really left up in the air. I want closure!
